Hi folks,
It's been a while since I've visited.
First things first, I'm having an issue with my 1994 940t engine surging/coughing after start up for a few minutes then it goes away and after about 10 miles or so while driving steady at 60- 70 mph until after I shut it off and it clears up.
Prior to this;
Back in early January I had an issue with my engine stalling and picking back up especially on acceleration and turning so I took it to my trusty local service shop and all they could do was adjust the idle since it was low and inform me that they didn't have a Tech or equipment to properly trouble shoot. Suggested that I take it to my trusty local Volvo dealership for some expertise advise/help and what they said was that it wouldn't start but only turn over when they went to pull it into the shop the next morning. Their T/S Tech believed it was the Crankcase sensor and replaced it and it started and that was it (but I truly doubt that was the issue). And they even suggested changing the timing belt again (one they changed 7 months ago!) go figure. I declined that service of course...
Well, 3 days later I couldn't get it to start while attempting to leave work so it sat in the parking lot for 2 days and my wife reminded me that about 8 years ago we had to change a particular relay (Fuel Pump Relay) for similar issues so I ordered one, went to change it but didn't because it started right up and drove home. I didn't change it for a few more days until the issue returned so I changed it and it has been going ever since.
Now the surging is next to be solved. Could it be the fuel pump itself? It's never been changed and I'm the only owner. I have considered changing the plugs and wires since they are about 14 months old. Any and all advice is welcomed and needed.
Thank you all in advance!!
