clock spring broke? 200

While making a radical tight turn in my driveway today, there was a slight "catch" in the steering wheel, then a sound and a feeling like breaking plastic in the steering wheel. Then the SRS light came on. Uh oh...

The horn works.

I recently replaced my steering coupler so I suspect rapping on this with a hammer may have had something to do with this also.

Questions:
1. Am I right in my suspicion that the clockspring got damaged somehow?

2. Am I at risk for the Airbag deploying without warning?

3. Should I unplug the airbag and if I do will this disable it?

4. Can I expect to fix the issue by replacing the clockspring?
