Had a valve job and replaced the cam on my '67 P220. Got it together and started today. After 15 minutes at 2000-2500 rpm it was warmed up. The service manual says that retorqueing the head bolts is not necessary. I don't believe them. Do you ?
If you don't either, should I retorque them now or wait until I have put on ~500 miles ?
Any other thoughts, hints, tips, tales ?
The motor started life as a B18 but is bored to 3.5" and the head is either a later model or it has been shaved down. Compression ratio works out to 10.4:1 with a thick head gasket. Cam is an Isky with a little more lift and a little less duration than the either the Volvo K or D cams (.440" 268°)
Given the above, where would you set the timing ?
Thanks
Greg
