So my mechanic recommends I get a new tank for my '86 245 but the Dorman fuel tank I was going to buy has no "baffled sump" according to the specs. Can anyone who has installed this tank confirm this? My question is: the sump is the metal ring at the bottom of the tank to prevent the fuel from going all to the side when cornering with not much fuel right? So anyone have any wisdom regarding if it's okay to not have the sump or is it's better to use my old tank if I can get it restored because the sump is important?
Thanks,
Mike
