I bought my 1992 740 Wagon (745) 8 years ago. I was a bit nervous about the mileage (it had 472,000 klicks on it) but the seller assured me Volvos go a million miles. The only thing wrong at the time was that the air didn't work. After replacing one pipe, then finding I needed another one I couldn't reliably identify and source, I gave up on the air.I fixed/replaced many things over the years, ball joints, hubs, tierod ends, fuel pump, steering rack, hanger bearing, u-joint, lots of rotors, brake pads, caliper pins and miscellaneous maintenance items. But then I gave up on fixing stuff, went through a winter with no windshield washers and now it needed another steering rack and I doubt there are too many good ones left in junkyards. I'm just getting too old to crawl under cars to keep them running. So I bought a 2005 Dodge Magnum because that's the last station wagon that was made. Too bad, because the Volvo, with 510K klicks on it, still doesn't use a drop of oil.
