Clutch Won't Stay Adjusted 200

About 08 had my 85 240DL professionally converted auto to manual. Donor car was an 86. Last Sep, the donor clutch cable broke. Repl with aftermarket from O'Reilly's. Noticed had to often adjust as contact point kept heading downward. Suspected cable stretch-in. In March the white plastic flange that mounts at the bell housing shattered. Repl w/OEM Volvo cable. Had to often adjust as the 3mm play at the clutch arm per Bentley would not stay. Contact point kept creeping towards the floor. It's about an inch or so off the floor now, little adjustment room left on the threaded plastic shaft. The pedal has been getting harder and harder to push to disengage the clutch. Previous US cars I've owned as manuals had gotten hard to push the pedal in as the clutch wore. Is this true for Volvo clutches? The clutch engages solidly and does not slip. It has about 50K best guess on it since the conversion and the disk, pressure plate and bearing were new then. I'm not an aggressive driver. At 70 I learned long ago, you break it you have to fix it. I take it easy and get 28-30 mpg on the old girl who now has 341K on her. Suggestions?
