Cruise control fix. 200 1993

The car is an automatic so I put in a new switch at the brake pedal and checked the servo and lines to be sure they are holding a vacuum and they are.
Still no cruise control.
My next step is to check the wiring in the blinker lever.
Is there anything else I can check?
For example, how can I verify the pump is working? Can I just put 12 volts onto it?
If everything there is good what should I look for if I open up the control unit?
