Hi All
It's been a few years since I posted here, nice to see you all still around.
I just did my brothers 1990 240 brakes. Front calipers, rotors and pads, and all the brake lines in front. The brake lines in front sucked! They appeared to be the original lines from 1990 with 300k miles of CT salt and Mg. I managed to get all off but one without destroying the hard lines. One hard line on drivers side, to the junction block was totally frozen and I broke it. I replaced it with a slightly longer piece(18" or so) that I had to bend to fit. That was surprisingly easy. So I get her all back together, power bleed(Motive power bleeder). No good. Air in lines. Rebleed. MUCH better. Rock hard pedal at first, but after 5 miles of working them hard they got a little soft(half way down) and the Brake Failure light came one and stayed on. I re-bleed a third time. Now the The spongy'ness with accompanying Brake Failure light is much less frequent, and the Brake Failure light doesn't stay on. It only comes on when the pedal gets soft. I am assuming I still have some air in the system somewhere? Does the intermitent nature of the symptoms tell me anything? How would I differentiate between air in system and a bad Master Cylinder? What is the proper bleed sequence for the 3 bleed valves on each of the front calipers? Thoughts?
Matt
