Closing off cowl vents under windshield 200???? 200

So I'm desperately trying to repair rust damage from clogged drain holes in my 90 245 rocker panels and after welding in new metal I thought why not just weld shut the vents that allow leaves and debris to get into those rockers in the first place??

I'm going to paint the car after all the rust repair is complete but I just want this car to remain without rust so my wife can bury me in it at my funeral (which may be sooner than I think if her patience for for my body work wears out). :-)

What would be the consequences of sealing off the cowl vents under the 240's windshield?

Any thoughts are, as always, greatly appreciated!

Jack
