Rubber Trunk Weather Seal 1800 1972

Hi all...

After removing the old rubber, cleaning out and prepping the track and experimenting with positioning the new rubber and water testing it, I'm ready to glue down the new. Problem is that when I close the trunk over the new seal, the trunk lid sits about 1/8-1/4 inch high. Will the rubber flatten a bit with time? Thx
