Before I waste a bunch of time reinventing a wheel, I thought I would throw this out to the group wisdom of the Brickboard.
I'm bring a '90 240 which has sat for awhile back to life. With a fresh charge, the thing started right up even after all that time. Originally I thought I had a minor leak at the fuel pump/fuel filter banjo line But, when it puked out a LARGE amount of gasoline from the rotted out fuel filter I realized that I was mistaken.
I know the fuel filter does not require attention very often, but whoever elected to mount the fuel filter near the rear axle, should have his chalubbies trimmed. I think I remember the fuel filter on my early K-Injected 240's being located on the firewall, not far from the wiper motor.
My question:
Has anyone relocated a 240 fuel filter to a more favorable location or, if not, is there a reason the thing is where it is?
