I'm back in the pushrod club after selling my entire stash 5 years ago. Just bought a 68 coupe that's been pretty well maintained. Problem is that it won't rev past what I'm guessing is 3k. It pulls great and has plenty of torque until about 65MPH and then stumbles and won't make more power when floored.
Yesterday I checked the dwell (60 degrees)
Set the timing to 10 degrees BTDC
Did my best to synch the carbs
Replaced condenser
adjusted valves to .018
This appears to be ignition, not fuel, there's plenty of fuel spraying out of the jets at WOT. This thing has had the coil replaced with an aftermarket and a ballast resistor. I'm thinking of going there next. I'm picking up a supposedly good factory coil from the PO tomorrow.
Here's a video, any guesses as to what I might check next?
