Electric Cooling Fan 200

I have a 91 240 with automatic transmission and AC. It never seems like the cooling fan in front of the radiator runs. I can not seem to find the sensor that should control the fan either. When warm outside and running the air the temp slowly climbs to about a needle width below the start of the red band. Turning off the air brings the temps back down again. Any help would be great.
