I replaced the left inner tie rod that had a little play a couple days ago on my daughter's 940 with 243K miles. It fixed the slight shake in the steering wheel at 65-70 mph. The old inner left tie rod joint was completely dry. I pulled back the boot on the right side inner tie rod and found it to be quite dry also. Neither inner tie rods had been previously replaced.
Has anyone routinely pulled back the boots on the inner tie rods and dabbed grease on the joint? If so, what kind of grease would be good? I dabbed on some "Valvoline Full Syn" grease that is supposedly good for CV Joints, etc. It was quite thick and I wonder if it will flow onto the ball of the joint. I had some other grease in a sealed aluminum packet that was quite thin and the label says it is also good for CV joints. I tried both greases on the old tie rod and neither flowed onto the ball joint readily.
Thanks
