I read the FAQ on interchangeability of trapezoidal instrument clusters, but the FAQ did not specifically address the rectangular clusters. My rectangular cluster is Yazaki with a Yazaki speedometer. If I found a similar cluster from another year, would it interchange? Or would just the speedometer interchange?

Here's my issue. On an 89 780 with a Yazaki cluster and speedo, the odometer stopped working. The problem is a stuck gear. I managed to extract the gear, and the housing as well as the pin the gear rides on are coated in melted plastic. My guess is there was too much friction, and then the gear got stuck fast. Finding parts seems to be hopeless, although I haven't given up. This is not the main drive gear. It is the gear between the trip odometer and odometer and is driven by another gear which meshes with the worm gear.
