Oil Cooler - how to change the gasket 900 1997

Hi folks,

While waiting for the new exhaust manifold, I am taking the opportunity to do additional maintenance in areas that now became easier to access, like the oil cooler, which from time to time drips a drop of oil from its seal.

I would like to know the sequence I have to follow in order to disconnect the adapter from the oil cooler.

Since I have already removed the coolant before removing the turbocharger and the exhaust manifold, I do not expect to see a lot of spillage when I disconnect the rubber hoses.

Should I start to drain the remaining coolant through the drain valve?

Unless it is strictly necessary, I would avoid to remove the adapter from the block, there is no leak there, I only would like to replace the seal between the adapter and the oil cooler.

To sum up, here is what I would do:

1) Drain the remaining coolant using the drain valve
2) Remove both rubber hoses
*The longer hose on top, connected to the red pipe, is it also for cooling?
3) Remove the oil cooler from the adapter
* How are they connected together? Do I simply have to undo the nipple?

Please see pictures to have a better idea on where I am at this point.

Thank you!
Alex
