Awhile back I posted about a dead miss in the number one cylinder on my 740. Only at idle. Compression was 177, 177, 175, 177 1-4 cylinders.
It was a broken exhaust valve spring. Early on I checked for spring issues by using the Schley valve tappet depressor, It felt "fine" But being this tool depresses both tappets at once it hid the problem. I went back and used both thumbs on the tappet and it was obvious.
Received all new updated springs, retainers, and spring seats from IPD.
New springs are larger: Old 26mm outside diameter.
New 29mm outside diameter.
Wire thickness: Old 3.93mm
New 4.12mm
