With the years passing by the instrument cluster night lighting is getting too low. The rheostat is turned to maximum and does seem to be working well.

I wonder if that 3 legs square electronic chip screwed on the heat sink metal plate is defective ?

Despite all world wide turmoils I wish everyone a happy new year.
