First of all fellow "RWDers", thanks alot for the previous help on my brake rotor problem. I've decided to replace the front rotors myself; it'll probably be a challenge for someone who's biggest previous auto mechanics accomplishment was using a strobe light (long time ago).
A couple of new questions. First, the service manual for my 960 brakes says I need to check for lateral hub runout, using tool kit 5418-2, when replacing rotors due to "resonance." Is this icing on the cake, or am I asking for trouble not doing it? I suspect tool kit 5418-2 might cost quite a bit.
Second question: Brake fluid meeting DOT spec "4+" is recommended for this car. I've found DOT 3, 4 and 5, but no "4+" is DOT 4 OK? Also, it says not to mix fluid from different manufacturers- how critical is that? I don't want to cut too many corners, but I need to know what's really necessary.
Thanks again for the earlier help.
