intermittent severe transmission oil leak 200 75

i have a 75 240dl with the borg warner 35 3 speed auto. Once every few weeks or so i'll drive off leaving a great puddle of tranny fluid on the ground when normally neither engine or transmission leak barely a drop. The car underside looks clean.Even on the hoist there was no apparent leak. Are aliens putting the stuff there to torment me? is there an explanation?
