Tire pressure differences between model years 200 81&&84

I've got an 81 and an 84 240...the 84 recommends 36psi all around while the 81 recommends 26/28psi. Both 240s have 185/70 R14s. Can I run 36psi all around on the 81 without any adverse reactions? Are there that many differences between and 81 and an 84 model years to necessitate a 10psi difference?
