Cousins:
I recently purchased a '84 245 (LH-Jetronic 2.0) with 93K miles. It had a cold-start problem when I got it. After a major tuneup and fluid change, etc., I also noticed the ubiquitous bad engine compartment wiring harness problem, and spent a week, on and off, splicing new wires into the existing harness. Most wiring was OK, but I replaced some with soldered joints and heatshrink tubing, and rerouted some of the wiring to keep it from the engine heat. The LH temp sensor self-distructed when I removed it, so I replaced it with a new part from the dealer.
I also cleaned all the sensor plugs, checked the grounds, cleaned and replaced the fuses and installed a new battery.
I've cleaned the throdle body, checked the "click", made VOM checks of the Air Mass Sensor and the idle thingy. Also replaced the flame trap and a few vaccuum hoses.
I still have a cold start problem, and I have the idle screw all the way in, and it still idles about 1000 in N (auto tranny).
Any ideas?
