Windshield wiper does not stop 200 1983

I have an 83 240DL automatic 4 Door sedan. Starting from yesterday, the moment I turn the ignition key (the car doesn't have to start), the windshield wipers start moving at normal speed. And changing the position of wiper switch does not have any effect at all. Any suggestion/comment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
