Hi,

Posted several nights ago about the diagnostic codes and poor running I was experiencing on an '89 240 GL that I had just finished exchanging engines on. The solution was so simple I'm embarrassed but thought I would share for future reference. After pulling the fuel rail and injectors, discovered No.2 injector was not spraying anything. I could have sworn I had heard it tapping earlier but must have heard another injector as I was only listening thru a screwdriver handle. After replacing with another injector off my old engine there was still no fuel. Realizing there was possibly no signal from the ECU I first looked at the plug and there was the problem! The connector on one of the two wires had pulled out of the plug and was not contacting the spade on the injector. I must have pulled too hard on wires when I was switching the wiring harness from one engine to the other. Wow, boy does the engine purr now! Since this is my first Volvo, you could say I just drove a 240 for the first time tonight! The transmission shifts so smooth, the overdrive works perfect, hey, I'm excited! This is a beautiful condition, one owner,rust free, no tears in the leather, always garaged, 140K, AC works, everything else works, 240 that I bought last summer at a tow lot sale for $200. They had not maintained the PCV system and blew out the seals and plug in back of head, locked up the motor, then abandoned it. Its been an on again, off again project in my garage for a while now but I am now certainly a little more excited now that its actually running well. Now I have to decide what I'm going to do with it....drive it or sell it. Talk to all of you later, Danny Frantz
