intermittent reverse light 200 1990

my reverse light comes on/off when I put the gear in reverse and jiggle the gear a bit - the reverse light goes on and off . Has to be a loose connection, also the bulb failure light came on .

before I try open the gear selector cover and fiddle around, any ideas ??

If anyone has done this before I would appreciate the info.

I tried opening the gears selector cover, looks a lot more to disassemble than just that. Saw a black plastic like "quarter", can this be the switch ??
