Just got a 1985 740 GLE Sedan 700 1985

I just got this car. It was given to me cuz the orginal owner bought a new Lexus. It's got only 12,000 miles on it. However, I really hate the car already. It's falling apart everywhere and is in horrible condition. I guess half the problem was the owner for not taking better care of it. The other half would be that This Volvo (and others around this era) were just crap.

The engine runs pretty well though. It's still smooth and so is the tranny. The exterior body is in really great condition. But the interior is falling to peices.

The headliner has many holes (probably from the kids) but it's no excuse for the easily punctured cloth lining. It's leaking from the sunroof somewhere. The plastic dash and door trims are cracked and broken in many pieces. Cloth seating surfaces have discolored (now yellow instead of nice blue). Windshield wiper control arm is broken in half. Gas guage does not function. Radio and speakers sound like crap.

I have started cleaning the interior up. I've taken the seats out and washed them. At least they don't have black/brown spots anymore...they're just faded yellow now. The carpet has been cleaned and looks wonderful now (no fading). It is missing the font passenger floor mat though, but I'll just replace that.

I'm just glad I don't have to keep this car for very long. My plan was to save up and buy a used car in June...but since this one's free, I'll use it for now.
