fuel pump whine 200 1982

Hello

Recently I have noticed that I can hear my fuel pump whining when the car is idling. This is new, it hadn't made a sound before. While the car was running I pulled the fuel pump fuse. The sound went away immediatly. Of course the car stalled but I just wanted to indicate that the sound is from

the fuel pump. Another indicator is that the sound seems to be coming from under the drivers seat. Does the sound mean that I will soon have a problem.

P.S. The car still works fine.
