Pressure control regulator issue 200 1983

I recently replaced the PCR in the 1983 240 Ti, everything is working fine, but the PCR I installed is different that the one I removed. One the original one, there are two ports (vacuum, I presume) on the same side of the PCR (facing the block), one above the other and one slightly larger than the other. On the one I installed, the two ports are on opposite sides of the PCR and one is quite a bit larger than the other. Fuel and vent holes are the same. With some creative modification, it works just fine, but I can't help being concerned that this may be a recipe for disaster. Any insight ?
