My wife's '91 945SE has begun smoking a few days ago. At times it smokes a LOT! Esp at idle and going up hills.
The car still goes like a bat outta hell but now there is a cloud of smelly white smoke ( not steam) behind her. The car has 200K but is in terrific shape otherwise.
It was suggested that I ck the flametrap,,,there is none on the turbo models but I took off and cleaned the hoses that connect to the plastic tee that gets vacuum off the manifold - Not Plugged.
I suspect the turbo...but, not knowing much about what wears out on the turbo, I could use some help diagnosing this. Seems to be using a quart of oil every 200 miles or so. The turbos does not seem to be making any new noises...sounds just like usual.
Any ideas??
I have another turbo that I pulled from a junkyard from a car w/ 88,000 miles
