I have a 1984 GL with electrical problems. When the key is turned to the on position the starter is activated prematurely. I wish I could just bypass the switch and install a push-button switch for the starter, but because of the cold start injector this won't work. I know that the ignition switch is not bad because I unplugged the switch harness and ran a jumper wire from the main power wire to the other wires in the plug harness. Two of the wires would activate the starter. As far as I know one of the wires is for the ignition and the other wire is for the starter. I don't think both wires are meant to activate the starter. So, the only thing I can guess is a short somwhere in the wiring harness. What I want to know is if anybody knows how these wires are ran and what components they go through. Also, maybe if one of you knows of a good book or web site that explains in more detail the electrical wiring of this Volvo. I have a Chilton manual, but it is not detail enough.
