Water Leak! Hard to find. 200 1990

Our Volvo has a water leak that has been to the shop twice with a water leaking problem and they still can't find it. We have to put water/antifreeze in it every day now, it's leaking that bad. It'll smoke up a storm under the hood when the water blows. We have narrowed it down to something toward the rear of the engine. It's somewhere between the engine and the firewall. Can't find a hose spewing. Any ideas?
