Anyone with rally experience out there who might be willing to give some pointers to a young pup who is considering taking a Brick over the river and through the woods?

I'm a bit bedazzled by some of the SCCA stuff. Still trying to figure out where to start; which classes are most appropriate, what mods to make (if any), that sort of thing. I will be in the SoPac region. I would like to get a 242 or 244 to do just the rally thing with, but would like some advice on do's and don't's and where things fit into the regulations before I make some of these commitments -- just in case they are headed in the wrong direction.

Hoping to seriously get into this within 3 months or so.

Also would like to find out which races might be the best early in the year to go to and watch and possibly meet some people so I can get a better feel for the crowd. Also interested if any of the rally camps/schools would be worthwhile or if just going out and trying it would be a better use of resources.
