Help?

I'm new to this mechanic thing.

I wonder if I screwed something up. I put my rear crankshaft seal in and I seem to remember tapping it in till it was maybe 3/32 or an eighth past being flush. if you know the bevel on the block, it was almost the bevel depth past the bottom of the bevel. The old one was pushed out by 1/4, so i couldn't copycat. I did oil it first and didn't gouge the case up in the bevel. Will it live?
