fuel gauge 900 1191

I have a little problem: Acoording to my fuel gauge, everything works fine from full all the way down to the middle of gauge. Fuel comsuption correspondes with the gauge (220km=30ltr). But after the middle down to empty i goes very fast (130km=30ltr)!!! Can someone of you imagine what this could be (If you understood what I tried to express)?
