For Anyone Interested:
Just replaced my fuel filter after 190,000 miles(1986 765 Turbo Wagon). No real problems, just figured it was about time. For those of you who are going to pursue this endeavor you will need the following: 18mm open end wrench (or socket), 3/4" socket, 7/8" open end wrench, 1 1/16 open end wrench and a 12mm socket for removing the bracket which holds the filter and pump. The 7/8" and 1 1/16" are used to hold the filter while loosening the banjo screws. Each end of the filter uses a different size. The 3/4" and 18mm are for the banjo screws. I had to make a trip to the store for the 18mm and 1 1/16".
Pulling the fuses for the fuel pumps and cranking the engine worked well for relieving fuel line pressure.
I never will figure out automotive engineers. Four different size tools for a job which should take two.
