When I replaced my blower fan motor on my '81 three summers ago, I replaced the temperature control with a thermostatic control from IPD. Well... now I'm back to digital mode: fully on or fully off. Urghh... Only three years' service from the stupid thing...
So...I think I've had it with the thermostatic valve. I've heard that Volvo went to the direct-control heater valve on the 240s late in the model life, but I've also heard that it's not a direct replacement. Apparently, the heater hoses up to the heater core are of a different size and if you replace the thermostatic valve with the direct-control valve that you need to replace these heater hoses as well. Is this true? I sure hope not, because I don't want to tear my dashboard all apart again just to replace the stupid 3 year old valve. Grrr...
