Bodywork - the black tape along the top of the doors 200 1989

I have a fun weekend of rust repairing planned. One patch which needs attention is underneath that strip of black tape that goes along the top of the doors and beneath the rear windows. Can I buy replacement tape anywhere? Do I have to get it from the dealer? If it's not easy to get, are there any good substitutes?
