No OD lockout - what is actually damaged? 120-130 1967

Folks,

I messed up my M41 by not installing an Overdrive lockout switch when I first installed the tranny.

Now I have reverse only on flat surfaces, and no down shift ability. Something slips under both conditions.

What actually happens to the overdrive if you reverse with overdrive engaged?

Other than being in deep doo doo, what kind of damage is actually done?

Is it restricted to just the overdrive clutch "cone"?

Thanks, gary
