Where and what is a PNP switch on my 960? And is this the same as a Neutral Switch? 900 1992

I have been tracking down a problem in starting my 960 and it comes down to the neutral switch on the shifter, the only way it will start is if I move the shifter all the way forward from its park position, then it will start, before that you get nothing but dash lights. We are thinking the neutral switch, yet someone has called out a PNP switch which is suppose to be in the tranny.

Are they the same and what is the best way to perform this operation?

Is there an adjustment I can do on the linkage to better activate this neutral switch?

I am thinking if I can adjust the linkage then I don't have to replace the switch........ what do you think?

Any other comments please forward.

Thanks
