swapping blinker/wiper switches for RHD 200 1988

Has anyone done that ?

The turn indicator switch really belongs to the RHS of the steering column for right-hand drive models, but for stupid EU regulations it's to the left. Can it be moved there, swapping it with the windscreen wiper switch?

If so, is there a way of turning around the latter, but not the stalk, so that the directional pattern is preserved (intermittent up, swipes down?
