W E S light on shifter and overdrive arrow flashing, transmission not operating properly 900 1992

I have a 1992 960 non-turbo, 176,000 miles in perfect shape.....except resently it would not start, I would shake the shifter a little and it would start. I was thinking the neutral sensor but was told that may not be it. I adjusted the linkage around the Neutral Sensor which helped for about 2 days then it would periodically not start after you shut it off, you could wait about 15 minutes and it would start. I checked the conections on the relays and the computer and everything seemed ok, 2 days latter the switch by the shifter that allows you to switch from W S E started flashing as well as the overdrive arrow on the cluster. At this same time the transmission began to drag and I have to shift it manually to prevent damaging the tranny. We disconnected the throttle positioning switch, and battery terminal to reset everything and it shifted great for about 24 hours then it went back to flashing the WSE switch and the arrow on the cluster. We reconnected the throttle positioning switch because we felt that was not the problem and here we are.......... tranny dragging, lights flashing. Something is wrong either in the computer, electrical relay or something.

Any suggestions?
