Cleaning Reflectors 200 1989

I took off my turn signal lenses today to clean them up. I noticed that the reflective lenses looked a bit dirty (had some type of black film deposit on it).

I tried cleaning it off but I appeared to have added some more blackness to it.

Out of curiosity, is there any way to polish this up? It's not really necessary, but I have some time to kill. :-)
