Does anyone have any suggestions for getting as much of the Slick 50 out of my M47 and rear axle as possible?
Will it just drain out with the old oil and not leave a 'mess' inside, or do I have to flush it out?
I have changed to synthetic oil in the engine and now want to do the same for the tranny and rear axle.

Why is there Slick 50 in the tranny of my beloved 240?
Back before I started reading the brickboard, my father put Slick 50 in the gear box and rear axle to cure a strange whining / squealing noise, which only happened after about 2 hours of driving at 70 mph. It seemed to work. I wasn't too keen on it, but giving in to his superior knowledge at the time, in it went.
Arrrrgg! Snake oil! I hear you all cry :-) And now after 5-6000 miles the shifting is certainly not as nice as it was and 1st is really stiff when it's cold. Shifting into 4th and then 1st all the time, in city traffic, is getting me down.
Thanks in advance,
