My son's girlfriend asked me to go with her to look at cars yesterday. One we looked at was a 1984 245 GLT with intercooler and 182,000 miles. No repair records but I could call the PO. The PO kept it immaculate, leather seats perfect, no broken door pockets or other plastic parts, body and tires excellent. The turbo is quiet and doesn't smoke. Goes like a bat out of 'H' when you punch it. It was getting too dark to check the wiring harness. Seller is asking $2800 US which is top book. The young lady plans to use it primarily around town for her and her 2-year old. No doubt it is a nice car and a safe one. Here's my question. Is this too much car for her to take care of. She is good on mainteneance and small repairs but can't afford any large repair bills. I'd love the car but I'm thinking she would be better off with a non-tubo model with fewer bells and whistles to break. What do you bricksters think?
