AW70 - Small Blue Valve Ball Replacement 700 1986

With severe shifting between 1st and 2nd, and a new kickdown cable installed, were going to tackle the replacement of the small blue valve ball in the transmission valve body. Both a friend and I are avid volvo fixers and I believe capable enough of doing the job. Any words of encouragement or discouragement?
