765T Fuel Pump Question 700 1989

I have a 1989 765T with 144k miles. When the car is stopped at a light, I can hear noise coming from the fuel tank area which I presume is either the in-tank or under-tank fuel pump. My question to you all is this: Is this the sound of imminent failure on a Volvo or is it like an MB where it can make this noise for years and not be a problem until it worsens?

The car doesn't exhibit any fuel starvation symptoms other than a rough idle which I feel is more attributable to motor mounts and a dirty throttle body that I have to attend to in the near future.

Thanks for any help.
