I just bought a very pampered 1985 245 with the GL package (black leather, tach, GL wheels). The car has an M46 and 142K miles. Dark blue. Really sweet ride, but there are a few issues that I need to address before I start driving her.

1) The blower motor was recently replaced. It's very quiet, but it doesn't blow as much air as the (original) blower in my '91 244. I hardly ever turn the 244's blower up above position 2, but I have to run this one at 4 to get the same amount of air moving through the car.

2) When I put the car in 1st gear, I can hear a metallic 'click' from under the car. U-joints maybe?

3) It takes much longer to start (hot or cold) than my '91 which I can start with a quick flick of the key. It usually cranks for at least 5 seconds before catching. Is this normal for an '85?

4) Everybody knows that old Volvos are noisy, but there is so much road/wind noise in the cabin at highway speeds (especially above 70mph) that it's difficult to carry on a conversation. Part of the problem is, no doubt, the cheap no-name Jap tires the PO put on. But what can I do about the wind noise?
