How do I add R-134a for Air Conditioning System 900 1995

Hello:

Currently when I put my air conditioner on I don't receive cold air. I have not recharged the system since I bought the car (5 years). How do I recharge my systems? Can I do it or should I have a mechanic do it? I know my Volvo dealer charges $150 for this service. My car does use the R-134a. I guess I don't know where to start. Can anyone provide assistance?

Can I just buy R-134a?
