noise got wores lost acceleration? 700 89

I was told that I had a bearing going in my water pump of my 89 760T. This morning the disel sound got louder and louder and I lost power to am max speed of 50 unless going down hill. I limped to my job and the brick left on a hook. What are some of the problems I may have encountered? Never over heated, started but stalled out immediately, motor shook violently during idle.
