Well after putting my water pump on four times for various reasons and then still having a leak i used this site to figure out what was wrong. It seems the upper coolant to heater core hose was probably origonal from 81, all rooted and cracked. Plus the white powder coating some nearby things really helped too. But why did volvo design such an asinine design, more make something complicated so the dealer has to do it and get 300$? I bought some big thin plyers with very long handles to reach in and get at the hose once it was started, but very frustrating. I cant seem to find the flame trap on this volvo, my 1980 was easy to find, and the two manuals i own are vague, and the one other at the auto parts store was vague too, so where is it? It seems after my car left the local delership a number of things have went wrong sequencially, the alternator, more coolant leaks, and the feul pump they put on buzzes horribly. Also can you beleive that they had to order a volvo feul pump because they did not have it in stock, this volvo dealership is a joke!! So i now do all the work myself. But can somebody tell me what are the simple main things that dishonest volvo mechanics do to have your car break down later not in their parking lot but a week later or so, to the 240 models.
